Diet “a way of life” (Greek)

Diet “a way of life” (Greek)

When you are on a diet it’s short lived because your brain associates diet with pain. It thinks of restrictions and frustrations.

The word diet in Greek means, “a way of life” and when we think of our diet as a way of life we will begin to have long-term success and continual progression.

Everyone always asked me what kind of diet i’m on or what my diet is called.

Personally for me I don’t have a diet I follow and I highly dislike the word diet and especially how it’s used in the American culture.

Definitions of The Word Diet

Here or some definitions of the word diet in our american culture. “A special course of food to which one restricts oneself, either to lose weight or for medical reasons.”

Another definition, “restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight” (Oxford Dictionary.)

I feel like the word diet in these definition is obsessed with losing weight and we associate diet to restricting ourselves.

We begin to think the only answer to losing weight has to be restricting ourselves from eating lots of food.

The key is to create a lifestyle and make gradual consistent progress!

Eat For Your Future Body

Another reason I dislike the word diet is because people think you should be on one only if you are overweight or if you were suddenly hit with a medical reason.

We don’t need to be overweight or have a medical reason to eat healthy.

Remember eating ONLY for today’s body sets us up to be unhealthy and sick in our future bodies.

Keep in mind your future body, mind, and spirit in your daily food choices.

Conclusion

Remember not to fall into the trap of these short-term diets, that yield only quick success that doesn’t last.

A diet shouldn’t be centered on external health (weight) it should be focused on internal health that naturally leads to external health.

Once you commit, the word diet becomes as the Greeks know it as “a way of life.”
