What Drives You to Eat Healthy?
Must people who know me know I love to eat healthy. I absolutely love the power healthy eating can bring to the body and mind.
Being a professional athlete must people think the only reason I eat healthy is because my job requires me to. This is for sure one reason I eat healthy, but it’s not the main reason.
Eating For My Older Self
The main reason I eat healthy is for when I’m 50 and 60 years old. I want to be able to run around and still live a very active lifestyle.
I don’t eat for my 25 year old body I eat for my future 60 year old body. Being 25 I could eat a non-nutritious diet and still be able to live an active lifestyle.
If we eat for today’s body then we won’t have the perspective we need to eat health today. Eat for your 60 year old self and if you are 60 eat for your 70 old self.
I just want to make sure ever new decade I enter I have a healthy and happy life. If you don’t feel good it truly is hard to enjoy life. I think it’s time we all put health as a priority.
Remember if you eat only for today’s body it can be hard to eat healthy. Eat for your body in the future decade.
Food and Genes
Food has a unique ability to alter your genes. The saying, “you are what you eat” has a literal meaning to each and everyone of us.
I recently discovered a book called ‘The Primal Blueprint’ and I have been absolutely fascinated with the power food has on impacting our health and our future generations health.
If you get a chance check out this book and read it. It’s a pretty cool concept to think that food and environment can directly impact our genes and health.
Here are some quotes from the book that I love. “Your genes are guided by what you eat, how you move, and even how you think.” “too many of us define genes as largely unalterable inherited traits.”
I know inside America there are a lot of health problems. I truly believe that if we can change our lifestyle through healthy eating and activity we can change our genes and health and live a healthy and happy life.
