Using Smoothies to Add 5 cups of Greens Daily


Whether you have little greens or no greens in a day here is a guide to help you eat a 1/2 pound of greens daily in just one month.

The secret is… SMOOTHIES

Roughly about 5 cups of greens comes out to a half pound.


Here is the basic recipe for my smoothies and a Guide to creating your own.

Step 01– Pick a Liquid ( 8oz)

  • Almond milk
  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut water
  • water
  • Coconut cream

Step 02– Choose your greens ( 1 cup to begin… see below)

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Beet Greens
  • Dandelion Leaf
  • Arugula
  • Watercress

Step 03– Add fruit (1-2 cups)

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries

I try to stick with berries because they don’t spike your insulin as much

Things to add to make it more sweet

  • Dates
  • Honey
  • Agave
  • Stevia

If you don’t need to add these don’t its better without them, but if you need to at the beginning go for it!

Healthy things you can add

  • Chia Seeds
  • Flax Seeds
  • Ginger Root
  • Bee Pollen
  • Turmeric

What My Smoothie usually looks like

  • 4 oz coconut cream (add little bit of water to blend)
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • half a banana
  • 2 scoops primal kitchen collagen fuel (chocolate coconut)
  • handful of chia seeds

How to eat half a pound of greens daily in just one Month

If you want to add greens to your diet in my opinion the easier way is through smoothies. I would suggest starting with 1 cup of greens in your smoothies to begin. Below you can see how you can have half a pound of greens a day in just one month.

  • Week 1- Everyday for the first week add 1 cup of greens in your smoothies
  • Week 2- Everyday for week two add 2 cups of greens in your smoothies
  • week 3- Everyday for week three add 3 cups of greens in your smoothie
  • week 4- Everyday for week four add 4 cups of greens in your smoothies.

After one month you will begin week 5 ready to have half a pound of greens daily. Starting slow and working your way up is the best way for your taste buds to adjust and acquire a better taste for all those greens.

If you want to feel a dramatic difference in your health and energy I would recommend adding a daily green smoothie into your diet. Before you know it you will be having a half pound of greens daily and feeling energized and healthy!
